Lace is Finished!

I finished 22" of lace this morning! I spent 74 hours on it. Also, the smocking I made for the next outfit. I should have smocked in a different color because the light green is too light to show the white contrast. Live and learn. I'm going to make the smocking into a pinafore and use the darker green as the dress. I'm going to make a little hat and shoes out of the darker green, too. I'll do a feather stitch in white on the dress, hat, and shoes (maybe). I have ideas for three more outfits, too, and I'm hoping to get them done next week, but it will probably take at least two weeks. I can't wait to get that money and buy lace books!!

  1. Wow! I love that lace! Well done on completing a piece; it must feel very good to sew it onto the beautiful dresses you make. When so much is slapdash and slipshod it's really inspiring to see you doing things properly, with craftsmanship and skill.

    1. Thank you. I can't wait to sew the lace on and see how it looks. I hope it comes out nice. I've never used lace before, so it will be a learning experience.

    2. I was trying to add that I've almost finished four sets of combinations. One was to test the pattern, so it doesn't count. It doesn't have tucks on the bodice, so I'm not going to use it.

    3. I bet they look wonderful. Is this a similar pattern to the doll's undies in the photographs?

    4. Yes! But the one in the photos has a slip and pantaloons, and I'm switching to combinations and petticoat.

    1. Well, I had customers when I was selling dresses last year. About a year ago, actually. I hope they come back this time. If not, I'll just have inventory, I guess.

    1. Thank you, Patricia! I love making the lace, but I'm not working on my doll right now. She stresses me out because I start to think she's not good enough. It just escalates from there. I'm sewing for the Kish 14" dolls right now. They are so beautiful!
